When to call
Signs it can't wait
Power is out
The whole home or shop, or part of it, has lost power.
Breaker keeps tripping
A breaker or earth-fault switch trips again as soon as you reset it.
Burning or scorch marks
Burning smells, scorch marks, buzzing or warm sockets and switches.
Damaged wiring
Exposed wires or fittings damaged by water or an accident.
While you wait
Stay safe first

Switch off
If it is safe, switch off the affected circuit or the main switch at the fuse board.

Keep clear
Do not touch damaged sockets, cables or anything that is wet.

Fire? Call 112
If there is fire or smoke, leave and call 112 first.
